3R Recycling

3R Recycling is a fictitious brand for which I practiced the Design Thinking process. 3R has been servicing a large portion of North Dakota for over 20 years. They have noticed a decrease in the amount of recycling over the past few years and are concerned.

What 3R Recycling has noticed is that residents are either not recycling or are doing so improperly. When contaminated or incorrect items are sorted into the recycling stream, 3R must dispose of the entire load instead of recycling it. The root of the problem is that many of the North Dakota residents serviced by 3R Recycling are uneducated about proper recycling methods.

I used the Design Thinking process to methodically identify the problem and work toward a solution. Through these steps, I created a solution to help educate residents and improve both the quantity and quality of recycling in North Dakota.
